MakoTrac 1998 - 2008: 10 Years of Go Kart Action
Since its inception in 1998 the MakoTrac kart racing facility near Cairns has grown into a first class venue frequented by an ever increasing number of visitors, including kart racing world champions and professional racing drivers.
The underlying business philosophy of owner and founder Horst Kipper has always been to transcend the concept of a simple hire kart facility to a top level, six star GoKartAction experience, incorporating impeccable safety credentials, cutting edge technology, continuous improvement and development, all underpinned by the highest possible level of staff competency and customer care.
It is this philosophy that has propelled MakoTrac on a consistent trajectory of development and innovation over its decade of successful operation. It has moved from a limited stable of karts to a total of 40 fully-imported Swiss Hutless racing machines, comprising seven different types of karts, ranging from the smallest Bambini kart (for kids from 4 years of age) to rotary- and diesel-powered karts to the all-powerful ...MakoTrac has also recently introduced pocket bike racing as an additional option for enthusiastic racers.
In its process of continuous improvement MakoTrac is constantly revising its AMB computerised kart management system, incorporating the latest technology to deliver enhanced safety features (remote control) and providing the best possible kart racing experience with on-board lap timing transponders.
In 2008 MakoTrac can look back on a steady expansion of its overall facilities: it has moved to become a more integrated
entertainment venue, including a mini golf course and BBQ house. A covered pit and briefing area, additional workshops and kart
storage areas were added to provide improved service and maintenance standards. A comprehensive website provides a detailed overview of all MakoTrac has to offer.
MakoTrac and GoKartAction have successfully integrated the elements of racing, educational improvement of driving skills, kart control, performance, speed, enjoyment and safety into an
experience that has drawn over 10 000 visitors annually to the track - some travelling from interstate capital cities on day excursions to North Queensland. Its unique star grading system has managed to translate and match individual skills to specific
kart categories, thereby ensuring an impeccable 10 year safety record based on more than 200 000 driving sessions.
MakoTrac has consistently managed to attract the attention of the motor racing community with its drive for innovation: on its 10th
anniversary MakoTrac is proud to announce the arrival of two fully-fledged single-seater Formula Vee race cars which will be available to qualified top-graded drivers. MakoTrac is currently developing a comprehensive course designed to take learners from a one-star go kart to the Formula Vee class.
Finally, MakoTrac wishes to thank all its local, interstate and international visitors for their patronage over the last 10 years. We will endeavour to provide more and even better racing enjoyment for everyone in the years to come.
