The right skills for the right karts

Properly handling and coming to grips with a go kart is oftenunderestimated. Especially the limited race session time of 8 minutes is often misunderstood by customers. It must be remembered that a professional kart race is rarely longer than 7 to 9 minutes.
MakoTrac has set a session limit of 8 minutes which is considered the maximum time to adequately handle a kart at reasonable speed and without problems in a safe environment. Children tend to lose their concentration after about 6 minutes, adults show signs of a performance drop-off after approx. 7 minutes.
Racers will find that after 8 minutes they will incur physical discomfort in their wrists and shoulders: this is an appropriate time for a deserved break for those wanting to carry on racing afterwards.
MakoTrac strictly adheres to the 8 minute limit in the interests of safety
for everyone involved.

Every customer approaches kart racing with a different level of driving ability and skill. Skill levels vary from zero to one hundred percent. To adequately rate and assess these skills MakoTrac has introduced a grading system, with every new racer starting off with the lowest grade kart. Proving their ability on the track will enable drivers to move up quickly to the next level kart. Please refer to the Star Grading system (download PDF).
MakoTrac does not accept CAMS or AKA licences as an entry level to higher performance karts. These licences do not adequately and reliably indicate experience or skill levels. To negotiate the correct racing line is a minimum criteria for any upgrading. Repeated mistakes and unsafe driving attitudes are unacceptable and cannot only prevent any upgrading but may also result in the downgrading from a high to a lower performance kart.
Since personal ability and driving skills cannot be retained as in a hardware product, extended periods of non-racing at MakoTrac may also require drivers to downgrade to re-establish their on-track skills credentials.
The regulations outlined above are essential in the interests of safety of drivers, spectators, the race kart itself as well as the entire race track infrastructure. Both government and sport medicine advocates have sepcifically sanctioned the approach adopted by MakoTrac. Our track-side staff are highly skilled and willing to assist you in every aspect to gain the maximum level of satisfaction and performance out of your racing. Coaching every driver to their full potential is our goal.
