The Perfect Kart Circuit? Karting on the Barrier Reef. The Perfect Kart Circuit? Karting on the Barrier Reef.

MakoTrac is an embarrassment to cities such as Adelaide and Melbourne which despite their resources and populations, don't have circuits that come remotely close to the standard set by North Queensland's most prominent raceway. On the holidays, my family and me went in the airoplane to the Great Barrier Reef and to Cairns and to Port Douglas. It was really good to go swimming in the beach and to go diving out on the reef's with all the fish and the sharks too. But the best part was when we went to the go-karts and the racetrack that the man built at Mareeba. It's called MAKOTRAC. This is what happened.

Prior to coming to the circuit Horst Kipper had promised a drive of what he affectionately terms 'the six gear kart'. "You must drive the Formula C kart with the TM engine. You will like it very much and it is very fast too" he said.

MakoTrac’s 40 Swiss Hutless hire karts are the most pristine arrive and drive karts you will ever see, even those that have been in service for nine years are in immaculate condition.  As with most things at MakoTrac, perfection is the goal.  The 411 metre hire kart circuit is adjacent to, but separated from the 1345 metre international circuit.
